Bible Reading of the day (Jan. 1st)

GEN:

1:27 So God created human beings[c] in his own image.
In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

Love by God! God wants us to be like him. What a honor it was supposed to be!

2:15 The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. 16 But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—17 except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”
God has provided everything to the man. Only one thing man shouldn't do. However, man did that. It's a warning to me also. Don't give yourself in to temptation.

18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” 19 So the Lord God formed from the ground all the wild animals and all the birds of the sky. He brought them to the man[f] to see what he would call them, and the man chose a name for each one. 20 He gave names to all the livestock, all the birds of the sky, and all the wild animals. But still there was no helper just right for him.

21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the Lord God took out one of the man’s ribs[g] and closed up the opening. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.

23 “At last!” the man exclaimed.

“This one is bone from my bone,
and flesh from my flesh!
She will be called ‘woman,’
because she was taken from ‘man.’”

24 This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.

What a beautiful picture of man and woman falling love! This picture is prettier than portrayed in any novel or movie. They are destined to be together because "This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh!" and it's by God's loving, considering hand (the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” ).

25 Now the man and his wife were both naked, but they felt no shame.

No sin, no shame. No matter whether we are naked or not.

Matthew:

1: 17 All those listed above include fourteen generations from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the Babylonian exile, and fourteen from the Babylonian exile to the Messiah.

I am sure the 14 means something, just don't know what.

22 All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet:

23 “Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel,[j]
which means ‘God is with us.’”

God's promise never fail.

2: 9 After this interview the wise men went their way. And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! 11 They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

See, even people with no Bible knew Jesus coming. All nations belong to one God.
